OEM Audi Engine & Components
Each of the main parts of an Audi engine has a different job, and they're all vital to how well a car or SUV runs.
Take cylinder heads. Their job is to help prevent oil leaks and gases escaping. Pistons, however, pressurize the engine's fuel and oxygen mixture. Intake valves regulate that mix's levels, while spark plugs ignite them and exhaust valves regulate their fumes. Valve covers protect valves, camshafts help coordinate valve activity, and crankshafts turn engine power into rotary motion.Drive shafts and transmissions use that motion to move wheels and tires. The oil sump or oil pan stores motor oil, which your engine uses to grease up its many parts.
Many other engine components ensure everything in your Audi fits together the way it should. If any of them wear out, however, engine failure almost always follows. Luckily, there are signs of it that you can keep an eye out for. They include a lit Check Engine light, increased exhaust emissions, a drop in fuel economy, and problems accelerating. Other telling symptoms range from longer engine warm-up times and rougher idling to stalling and even being unable to start at all. Noticing any of them? Run a thorough engine inspection to determine their causes.
